Description
We are so excited to welcome you back or thank you for joining us if this is your first year walking with us. Here are a few things to know before you come out to walk with us on Sunday, October 16th.
- Honorary Breast Cancer Survivor Lasha R. Boyden U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of California will be joining us, she will address our guests and will cut the ribbon to start our event.
- This is a 5K (3.1 mile) non competitive walk.
- Parking- Downtown parking is free on Sunday's so arrive early, if you park in the parking garages near by the regular parking fee's are in effect. 10th Street between L & N are closed for sponsorship parking and for our walkers to cross the street and return. Parking Passes are required to park in this are.
- Check in begins at 7:00am
- There is lots to see, do and areas to shop until we walk, be sure to see all of our sponsors at the Capitol
- Walk Begins at 8:00am with the Ribbon Cutting by Lasha Boyden
- You will enjoy a beautiful walk down town around Crocker Park and down to Old Sacramento, head into Old Sacramento and into DOCO. There you will visit our Small Business Village Supporters and music from one of our local DJ's
- Complete the walk by returning to the afterparty back at the West Steps of the State Capitol for live music from Funk Shui!
- Be sure to stop by Bad Bakers Mobile for breakfast before the walk. They will be donating a portion of their proceeds back to Making Strides from the day's sales. LETS SELL THEM OUT!
- YES you can bring your furry friends, they must be on a leash and come prepared to clean up after them. We will even have a sponsored tent to stop by and grab them a treat. *Please note that it is important to know your dog and that they are comfortable around other dogs and large crowds of people. If this isn't your pup please consider leaving them at home where they are safe and feeling secure.
- YES please bring your little ones we enjoy seeing the decorated strollers
- YES of course wheelchairs are welcome
- NO Scooters, roller skate, bikes, or any other types of transportation that would fall under these descriptions
- NO obscene verbiage on shirts, our event is family friendly lets all do our part
