Teatro Nagual proudly announces its landmark production of El Borracho by Tony Meneses, running July 17–20, 2025, at The Sofia in Midtown Sacramento.
Directed by Alexis Arriaga, this deeply human story marks a historic milestone: the first-ever Actors’ Equity Association production by a Latino theater company in Sacramento.
Raúl is sick. He has not been taking care of himself. He drinks, always has, like El Borracho from the Lotería game. His son, David, wants to connect before it’s too late and insists on bringing him home, forcing his mother, Alma, to care for the man whose damage still lingers. Alma, who once swore she’d
never see her ex-husband again, now finds herself caught in the aftermath. El Borracho is a vibrant, heart-wrenching comedic drama about identity, resentment, and unspoken truths that tie us together.
