Entry-Level Payroll Assistant

payroll, and HR support to businesses in industries such as restaurants, construction, and janitorial 
services.

experience to college students passionate about payroll and business finance. 

Position Summary
We are seeking a college student with interest in payroll processing and business compliance to 
join our team as an Entry-Level Payroll Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on 
experience working with small business clients and learning how to process payroll accurately and 
compliantly. 
Applicants must be currently enrolled in college-level accounting, business, or human resources courses 
and have a recommendation from a professor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing payroll for small business clients (weekly/biweekly) 
  • Organize and input employee hours, timecards, and wage data into payroll software 
  • Help prepare payroll reports, tax filings, and employee pay stubs 
  • Support the year-end process including W-2 and 1099 forms 
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation in a secure, confidential manner 
  • Communicate with Spanish-speaking clients (if bilingual) regarding payroll deadlines or changes 
  • Learn to respond to basic payroll-related notices or inquiries 
  • Work under the supervision of senior staff and participate in staff meetings/training sessions 
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Accounting, Business 
  • Administration, Finance, or a related field 
  • Recommendation letter from a professor in Accounting, HR, or Business – required
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable 
  • Strong math skills and interest in payroll compliance 
  • Excellent communication and time management skills 
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel required; experience with payroll software is a plus 
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred
