Director, Student Programs
The Sacramento County Office of Education is seeking a talented and dedicated Director, Student Programs to join our team.
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is one of 58 county offices of education in California. Approximately 780 regular and more than 815 temporary and substitute SCOE staff work year-round providing services that complement and supplement those offered by public school districts in Sacramento County. SCOE provides technical assistance, curriculum and instructional support, staff development, legal and financial advice, and oversight to Sacramento County school districts.
SCOE plays a leadership role in the delivery of quality education to the students in Sacramento County. SCOE directly educates more than 30,000 children and adults—which includes thousands of district teachers who attend training sessions and workshops each year. SCOE also provides support services to more than 253,000 students (source: 2023–24 DataQuest) in 13 school districts. Many SCOE programs and services are available to schools, districts, and other county offices of education within the Capital Service Region.
Salary and BenefitsAnnual salary: $183,756 per year (2025-26)
Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, life, vision, and TSA options
Benefit allowance: $868.27 per month for single health coverage, $1,493.27 for 2-party, $1,643.27 family
Job Summary
Under general direction leads, plans, and directs the development and implementation of efforts to improve and sustain high-quality court, community, and alternative school full-service instructional programs utilizing a whole-child model in alignment with the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) Initiative. Provides leadership, guidance, and professional learning to ensure staff implement positive reinforcement and interaction with students in a specialized instructional environment that provides each student an individual learning plan based on research-based practices including wrap around services, opportunities for career development, transition to post-secondary education and/or career, and is driven by data as part of a cycle of continuous improvement. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Possession of a valid California administrative services credential and demonstrated successful school-site administrative leadership experience required; preferred experience as a classroom teacher, counselor, or other certificated staff member with knowledge of best practices for supporting students who face challenges to their academic and personal success, including those that are justice involved.
