The City of Elk Grove Finance Department is seeking a motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented professional to support citywide accounts payable functions within a structured, compliance-driven environment. This position plays an important role in ensuring efficient accounts payable operations and provides high-quality support to departments across the City.

The Accounting Technician I/II will support all departments in reviewing, verifying for accuracy, and compliance while facilitating invoice processing activities and payments to vendors. This position is also responsible for preparing, filing and issuing required tax documents related to City purchasing and payment distributions. This role involves frequent collaboration with internal teams and the vendor community to support the City’s operational goals with high-quality service.

The ideal candidate will have experience with accounts payable activities and related support functions. In addition, this individual is committed to being organized, responsive and possesses strong communication and problem-solving skills along with attention to detail. A successful candidate will understand the importance of accounts payable as a support function and its role in assisting departments meet their service objectives and serve as an accounts payable subject matter expert; including applicable purchasing and accounts payable tax rules and regulations, accounts payable internal controls and best practices, and reporting requirements.

Excellent customer service, organization, collaboration and communication skills are essential. Experience with accounts payable software and Excel and public sector accounts payable experience are highly desirable but not required.
